We have been very busy since our last Newletter. Given the current recession we are bucking the trend!   This newsletter lists a sample of the more interesting work we have been doing lately. We hope this is informative and gives you a flavour of our capabilities.

We would encourage you to read about our Risk/Reward offering at the end of this message. This is proving to be a recession-busting offer: Reduced Consultancy Rates and the Cost being directly Proportional to the Benefits delivered.

In-sourcing Financial Services

As a result of our Contract Compliance and Project Management expertise, we were contracted to Project Manage the in-sourcing of Financial Services back into an Oil & Gas Operating Company. The Services had been outsourced for some years. We had to manage a number of staff, process, accommodation, and welfare issues. Perhaps most important, the whole process improved the degree of control that the company had over its financial affairs. Around 20 staff were relocated and new jobs created.

e-Invoicing System

Imagine changing 200 peoples' working practices in a sensitive area from paper-based to fully electronic -  overnight. We achieved this for one of the larger oil companies: We were asked to improve financial control by Project Managing the introduction of automation of all invoice handling across the company. This meant analysing the business process across some 200 people, designing controls, identifying the key functionality, selection of appropriate software, managing the software development, and implementing the system. Our values of integrating the change with the people and culture of the organisation paid off handsomely and the system operated well from first switch-on.

Web-based Electronic Business Expenses System

This is very topical; whilst the issue of MPs expenses was brewing, we were performing a root-and-branch review of a large company's business expense processes. This started by examining the current system, writing a central policy, translating that into business processes and controls, and running tests on these. Only then did we commit to building the and implementing the software . The biggest success was our Change Management system for managing a wide variety of stakeholders across the whole company. In particular, we took care to make sure key users actually designed the system with us - and tested it on paper before committing to software development. The project directly changed the way 800 people claim their expenses - a sensitive subject! Our culture-centred approach meant there were no surprises when we went live and the system worked smoothly from day one.

IT Strategy Development

We assisted an oil/gas operating company establish better governance by developing an IT Strategy for presentation to the board of the company. We interviewed all key stakeholders at all levels in the company in order to determine the needs of the company. We then worked closely with senior managers to develop operational plans and a governance system which will ensure the objectives are achieved within the overall development of the company as a whole.
